ON LOVE - One Last Moment

One Last Moment

The day was calm and warm,
with much to aspire towards,
except for one moment gone in a breath.
One last touch, one last view of her essence.
And then,
our last exchange in one another's presence.
Time stood still, for hours it seemed-
as I reminisced and dreamed,
about the passion and laughs we shared-
the dances and embraces,
the getaways that sparked fire,
the love, and the desire.
I ruminated the clandestine nights spent together,
how she would lay on my chest, snug in my arms.
And then,
we would explore one another like nomad's devotion to life,
as her emotional expressions blossomed to the precipice.
Then it was over.
My heart slowed its pace,
realizing what was next to face.
She drove off and was gone.
The quintessence of love was gone.
