ON LOVE - Pick Your Poison

Pick Your Poison

With the intentions of men lies curiosity,
it lurks like wolves in the night and
birds of prey by day.
It stings gently, yet burns intensely.
Is it a want, a desire, or a need?
Lust, love, or friendship?

Pick your poison wisely,
to avoid ominous objectives,
or abstain from venomous rain;
coil your motive around the emotion
descending rapidly like rocks in quicksand.
Extend your reach and open your hands.
Touch and taste with passion.
Drink with the thirst of soldiers traversing the globe,
penetrate the walls of church and state
until your senses correlate.
Divide the being from the spirit,
advance swiftly and take what is yours.

Enigmatic, she was,
charismatic I am.
Her poison sinks into my blood
as I begin to feel her pulse.
Every drop of her essence is experienced.
Ecstasy at last -
now I am numb.
