Mentoring young black men has been one of my life's most evolutionary fulfillments. Passing down the knowledge I inherited from educational heroes, my dad, influential gurus, and father figures strengthened our community while guiding these students toward positive pathways. Some deviated, but most utilized the wisdom and experiences to enhance their goals and objectives. Plus, I don't mind beating them every now and then at their own game, whether it's basketball or arm wrestling. Even at 50, Vegan Cyborgs don't go down easy.
Two of my most devoted mentees are Amede Vital and Nyamusa Njoka. Both are from Africa and currently prospering in America because they are hungry and eager to reach their full potential. They play collegiate football, study cyber security, respect their parent's authority, adhere to societal protocols, and possess a strong work ethic. "Proud" is an understatement.
I'm looking forward to seeing them evolve while contributing to the needs of humanity. So, continue dedicating time to young Black men because they need the support of mentors and father figures more than you can imagine. Especially in America!
